First Day on trip

We woke up around 1:00 am and got ready to leave. We packed all of our food and bags into the car and then we set off on the road at about 2:00. Toniann, Ehlana and I didn't go to sleep that night so we were trying to sleep on the way to Missouri. It didn't take long to get out of Utah and at around 5:30 am we stopped at McDonald's for breakfast.

There was not much we really saw on the road. Considering we were in Wyoming and Nebraska all that you really saw was windmills and long fields. The windmills were sort of neat to see though. There were tons of them. They would go on for miles to the side and back. Rows and rows of windmills. While it was still dark, when we were in Wyoming, we saw rows of windmills that had red lights flashing since it was dark. My dad said it looked like an alien invasion to him. Some of us agreed.

When we got into Nebraska it all still looked the same as Wyoming. The only thing that was really different was that there were more trees there than there were in Wyoming. Still the main thing was fields and windmills. We ate lunch at a small rest spot in Nebraska. It was about 1:00 when we ate. We sat at a table and Ehlana was taking pictures. We ate egg salad sandwiches and grapes. When we left we turned a way that the GPS on our car didn't have us going, it was confused for a bit, but it got on the trail we were doing; which was a shortcut to get where we were going. Taking the shortcut added another state to how many states we went through on our trip. On the way to our Uncle Jeff and Aunt JoAnn's house we went through Iowa, by Omaha city. Then we were in Missouri.

When we got into Missouri we ate dinner at McDonald's. That was around 7:00 pm. When we were done eating we got into Hamilton which was where our Aunt and Uncle lived. They own 80 acres! Wow! We saw them in town before we went to their house because they had some stuff to do. We got to their house and we were saying it looked like a castle. It is a nice house. They showed us where we would be sleeping. Our parents were sleeping in a large room next to ours. Our room had three beds, even though I am the tallest, I got the smallest bed. Which I was actually fine with. We brought our bags and food in and then we sat and talked for a bit. My dad, Ehlana, and Rosamund went fishing. They threw all of the fish back, but they caught a few, well my dad did. While they were gone we started a fire. They got back and we roasted marshmallows.

After roasting marshmallows we sat and watched Secretariat in their living room. A bit into the movie, my mom, dad, and Toniann went to bed. At about the half way point of the movie Ehlana went to bed. Rosamund had fell asleep and so Jeff and I were the only ones awake. That was when we saw a frog on the window. He kept running back and forth it was sort of funny. The movie ended and we all went to bed. We had a good day and hoped to have another one tomorrow.
